Welcome to the Derbyshire Flying Centre. Where we are poised to open up new horizons for you to share what has been described as “an experience beyond imagination”- the ability to fly free as a bird. The Hang gliding/Paragliding centre was established in 1987 by Stephen Hudson CFI. Stephen has been flying for 3o+ years, has represented Gt. Britain in international competitions and is a BHPA Merit Award winner. The school operates in the Hope Valley Derbyshire UK, centre of the Peak District National Park. This unique location enables quick and easy access to both outstanding training and flying sites. We provide quality teaching in a personal and friendly atmosphere. Print a Booking Form Once you have decided. Please download the booking form as a word file, edit and attach to an email. We can then give you the details for online payment. Print a booking and conditions form (can be found here) and send your completed booking form with a deposit of £25 made payable to S Hudson or Derbyshire Flying Centre. Cliffe Side, Church St. Tideswell. SK17 8PE.
Ringing In. Once you have booked a Hang gliding lesson or Paragliding lesson, please ring in between 8.00am and 9.00am the morning of your course on 01298 872 313 or 0776 272 9663 to check weather conditions for the day.
Meeting place and time. We meet at the Barrel Inn Bretton Nr Eyam S32 5QD Map at thebarrelinn.co.uk. The course starts at 10am and finishes around 4.30pm-5.30pm. Quality Accommodation and meals are available at the Barrel Inn. Breakfast can be pre-ordered for any course participants 01433 630856.
BHPA Membership. Is compulsory. The required Hang gliding or Paragliding course training membership is organised on your first day. Your BHPA membership gives you third party cover but if you require personal Insurance. Go to BHPA Airsports. It is possible to take out personal Insurance on the first day of your course with Airsports, please ask your Instructor.

Equipment. All Hang gliding and Paragliding Equipment is provided by us for Taster days and Elementary courses. For the Club pilot and Pilot courses you can purchase or hire flight equipment from us. It is possible to use your own flight equipment once it has been inspected and approved for your use in the school, The inspection fee is usually £150.
Fees. All course fees must be fully paid in advance or on the first day of your course. Please see booking form and conditions for full details.
Age. The Minimum age for flying with us is 14 accompanied by a parent. 16 with the parental permission. 18+ There is no upper age limit.
Clothing. You will need a pair of boots that firmly support your ankles. Layers of clothing are recommended, gloves, a windproof jacket and sun protection cream.
Lunch Break. Bring a packed lunch and a drink
All Hang gliding and Paragliding lessons are weather dependent and any days cancelled due to weather conditions will be credited to you and can be taken with any suitable courses within the year. All Hang gliding and Paragliding courses must be taken within a year of us receiving your booking form.
